Fancy leasing a Citroen Dispatch?

The Citroen Dispatch, together with its sisters, the Peugeot Expert and Toyota Proace, represented everything that was wrong with badge-engineered vehicles - until they were revived and given their own brand identities. Citroen and Peugeot intend the Dispatch and Expert vans to compete with the Volkswagen Transporter and Mercedes-Benz Vito at the middle to the higher end of the market. The Toyota Proace, on the other hand, is primarily a fleet vehicle, though many owner-drivers purchase them.

The most recent Dispatch is the first to have an exterior design that is uniquely it's own. It has also received updates elsewhere, including a sleek interior and cleaner engines. So let’s take a closer look at the Citroen Dispatch.

Citroen Dispatch Performance

Entry-level models come standard with a 1.6-litre 94bhp diesel engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. It is also available with an automatic gearbox. There is also a higher-powered 114bhp version of the 1.6, which is almost certain to be the one most drivers will choose, even though it is only available as a manual.

A bigger capacity 2.0-liter diesel engine is available with three power ratings of 121 bhp, 148 bhp, and 174 bhp. The engine with the highest power rating features an automatic gearbox and paddle shifters positioned on the steering wheel. The Citroen Dispatch comes in three lengths, but only one roof height. The trim levels range from the entry-level X to the very well-equipped Enterprise Plus.

The new Dispatch not only looks better than its predecessor, but Citroen has also made significant improvements to the way it drives. The new 2.0-litre engine's most potent version provides plenty of pulling power, making it seem at home both pootling through congested places and travelling at cruising speed on a highway. However, the 1.6-litre 114bhp is our preferred engine because it has the best fuel economy, with a claimed 55.4mpg, smooth power delivery, and just enough power to move forward even when fully loaded.

Citroen Dispatch Interior

The quality of the plastics used, as well as the look of the dash and steering wheel, have been improved, giving the interior a much more car-like feel. Entry-level X models include USB and auxiliary device ports, a DAB radio with Bluetooth, cruise control, and remote central locking. The one-touch electric windows, air conditioning, 7.0-inch touchscreen, automatic lighting and wipers, electric heated mirrors, and storage under the passenger seat are added to the middle model level Enterprise vans.

By upgrading to the top-of-the-line Enterprise Plus, you'll get more useful equipment like front and rear parking sensors with a rear camera, electric folding mirrors, and a 3D Connected navigation system with voice recognition, as well as exterior trim upgrades like body-coloured bumpers and LED daytime running lights.

Only a small radio-sized hole, an open glove box, and a thin shelf directly above that serve as the only storage options. On the Enterprise and Enterprise Plus vans, the true storage is found in the split-level door pockets and beneath the seats.

Citroen Dispatch Space

The Dispatch gives customers more options than other vans in this class thanks to its three available lengths. The huge city van Nissan e-NV200 is a rival to the little XS model's 4600mm length. It has a 2160mm maximum storage area length.

The largest XL variant is 5300mm front to back and can transport a 2860mm length, while the usual size M van is 4950mm with a 2510mm load length. All three vans can be equipped with a load-through bulkhead hatch and a folding front passenger seat to add an extra 1160mm of usable space for pipes or long pieces of wood.
