Fancy leasing a Ford Transit Van?
Since its introduction in 1965, the
Ford Transit van has been an icon in the van market, holding an astounding dominance on the title of the
best-selling van in the UK. The Transit name is synonymous with large vans, but with the
Transit range now subdivided into Transit,
Transit Custom,
Transit Connect, and
Transit Courier, the Transit name is more predominant than ever. There's also an electric Ford E-Transit available now on our electric
van lease options, as the world moves to a greener state of living.
In addition to revising its engines in 2019 to meet the increasingly stringent Euro-6d emissions standards, Ford used the opportunity to update the Transit more thoroughly. As a result, there is a new grille that is a subtle change from the previous design, as well as some crease lines in the hood to harden up the front-end aesthetic.
Ford Transit Van Performance
The main engine option is a 2.0-litre diesel with the same outputs as the previous Transit. As usual, front and rear-wheel drive vans are available, with higher-powered variants also available with four-wheel drive. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard in Ford Transit vans.
The Ford Transit is a great driver's van despite its size, thanks to its responsive steering. The Transit is quite heavy, which adds to the impression that you're driving a large vehicle, but once you get to know it, it's quite nimble. For overall performance, we recommend the 130bhp model. It has more than enough power, even for a large van, thanks to the available low-down torque.
Ford Transit Vans Interior
When it came to inside storage, the previous Transit was no pushover, and yet this latest version has upped the stakes even further. There are new compartments in the dashboard's top that will allow drivers to store a fair amount of items. More hidden storage is provided by the glovebox, and there is also a small compartment on the driver's door side that is only available when the door is opened.
The driver's seat can be adjusted in eight various ways, and the steering column can be adjusted for reach and height. That means it can take a long time to get into the proper position, but once there, you can be thoroughly comfortable regardless of your size. Standard features include steering-wheel controls, a DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and auxiliary connectors. Optional features include air conditioning, sat-nav, parking sensors, automatic wipers and headlights.
Ford Transit Van Conclusion
The Ford Transit is still one of the most adaptable vans available, and the most recent model has better storage, a greater cargo capacity, and more advanced safety measures. The Transit becomes better each time it evolves.
