Thinking of leasing a Peugoet 508 Flashback?
The Peugeot 508 has developed over the years from a stodgy four-door saloon into a sleek into a low-slung five-door coupé, displaying the revolutionary spirit traditionally associated with France. Peugeot refers to the 508 as a fastback, a phrase that evokes memories of the sporty Jaguar E-Type and
Ford Mustang from the 1960s. It is without a doubt an attractive machine to look at, and the fact that it has a wide hatchback rather than a saloon's small boot opening adds to its practical appeal.

Peugeot 508 Drive
The Peugeot 508's official electric-only range is up to 34 miles when it is in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) mode, which combines a petrol engine and an electric motor. The outstanding Volkswagen Passat GTE and the Skoda Superb iV are both in strong competition with it as a result. The 508 accelerates quickly from a stop and handles highway speeds with ease when powered solely by electricity. Just keep in mind that the single 108bhp electric motor won't provide Tesla-like acceleration. The BMW 330e and Superb iV are faster than the 8.3 seconds required by the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine to get from 0 to 62 mph.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine in the 508 (labelled 1.5 BlueHDi 130) generates 128 horsepower. While the mid-range engine has sufficient power to accelerate quickly enough for daily driving, it is underpowered enough to make overtaking more difficult than it needs to be. The lone option in the range for those who prefer petrol is the 129bhp 1.2 Puretech 130. Although we haven't tested this device yet, we predict it will take the most effort to get going.
Peugeot 508 Interior
The 508 has Peugeot's i-Cockpit layout, which replaces traditional analogue displays with a 12.3-inch bespoke digital display that is seen over the top of an extremely short steering wheel rather than through it. Unfortunately, while this is effective in the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008, it can be challenging to see the dials in the lower-slung 508 unless you have a long torso or have the steering wheel set lower than is comfortable.
The front seats may be adjusted in a wide range of ways, and in the top-tier GT Premium model, you can do so electronically. All other versions, except the base Active Premium, offer manual seat adjustments and electrically adjustable lumbar supports.
The larger touchscreen infotainment display (10.0 inches instead of 8.0 inches) that comes with the Allure Premium spec and higher models is a significant benefit, but the system it controls is not any faster to respond to your orders, and its menus are just as illogically laid out.
Peugeot 508 Space
Despite the 508's slim, coupé-like roofline, the driver and front passenger have adequate room. The news isn't quite as nice for those who are farther back though. The headroom is so small that it's truly best thought of as a child and short adult-only zone unless passengers are willing to travel with their heads cocked to one side. There is just enough room for a six-footer to fold their legs in behind an average-height driver. Even less headroom is available with the optional panoramic sunroof.
In line with executive car class norms, the boot is also on the smaller side. There are only seven carry-on cases that can fit, as opposed to the eight in a Volkswagen Arteon and the ten in a Skoda Superb. However, the 508's hatchback (as opposed to saloon-style) shape earns it some additional practicality marks. Its high-opening tailgate makes it relatively simple to carry heavy objects. Pulling the toggles that are located directly behind the headrests will also fold the 60/40 split back seats down.
